Gillian Parker - Deputy Chief Constable

Gillian Parker has been the Deputy Chief Constable of Suffolk Constabulary since October 2000.

Mrs Parker joined the force as Assistant Chief Constable in November 1998 after nearly 20 years with Leicestershire Constabulary, where she began her career as a constable working at the Coalville sub-division.

She studied at Loughborough University of Technology between 1973 and 1977, where she gained an Honours Degree in chemical engineering and a Diploma in Industrial Studies. In July 1999, she gained a Master's Degree in Applied Criminology with the University of Cambridge.

Mrs Parker's role as Deputy Chief Constable embraces development. She oversees both the Human Resources and Corporate Development departments, which are responsible for areas including training, media relations, consultation, best value and professional standards.

She is married to Tony, a retired Chief Superintendent.

Colin Langham-Fitt - Assistant Chief Constable

Colin Langham-Fitt is Suffolk Constabulary's Assistant Chief Constable.

He joined the force in October 2000 from Norfolk Constabulary, where he had risen through the ranks from joining as a Constable in 1977.

As Assistant Chief Constable, Mr Langham-Fitt is in charge of the operational side of the Constabulary, overseeing the Crime Management Department, Operations Department and the three area command units.

He has an MA in Professional Development from the University of East Anglia and a Post Graduate Diploma in Criminology from Cambridge University.

Mr Langham-Fitt is married and has a daughter and two sons. His interests include cycling, fell walking, reading and oil painting.

Jerry Goddard - Assistant Chief Officer

Jerry Goddard is Suffolk Constabulary's Assistant Chief Officer.

He has lived in Suffolk all his life and joined the former East Suffolk County Council in 1961 and worked in a wide variety of roles in the Department of Clerk of the Council until Local Government Reorganisation in 1974.

Following the amalgamation of authorities into the current Suffolk County Council, Mr Goddard held principal positions in the Chief Executive's Office dealing with committee administration and budgetary issues.

In 1980 he joined the Suffolk Constabulary and since that time has seen his own role develop and that of civilian support staff in general.

Due to the establishment of new style Police Authorities in 1995, his role was redesignated to that of Assistant Chief Officer (ACPO status). Core responsibilities of his role now include Support Services (administration, procurement/contract services and facilities management), Finance and IT.

Mr Goddard is married and has two daughters. His main outside interest is sailing.

Detective Chief Superintendent Peter Worobec - Head of Crime Management

Detective Chief Superintendent Peter Worobec heads Suffolk Constabulary's Crime Management Department.

The Crime Management Department has around 200 police and support staff and covers a range of policing areas including major crime investigation, covert policing, financial investigation, child protection, crime reduction and scenes of crime examination.

Peter has headed the department for more than three years.

He began his policing career straight from school, when he joined the Police Cadets.

He has spent more than 25 years with the Constabulary, mainly in the field of criminal investigation.

Peter is married with two children and is a local school governor. He main hobby outside work is gardening.

Chief Superintendent David McDonnell - Head of Operations

After gaining a BA (Honours) in History and Archaeology at Reading University, David worked as a professional archaeologist and as a manager for Marks and Spencer before beginning his police career with the Sussex police in 1983. After a wide variety of policing roles, his final posting in Sussex was Commander of the Counter Terrorist Wing at Gatwick airport.

David transferred to Suffolk Constabulary on promotion to Superintendent in 1999 and spent a brief period with the Corporate Development Department before serving as the Operations Manager for the Constabulary’s Eastern Area from 1999 to 2003. In September 2003 David took over as Chief Superintendent Operations.

The Operations Department provides specialist support to the three areas of the Constabulary - its key elements being the Force Operations Room, Traffic Branch, Firearms, Dogs Section, Operational Planning and Air Support (the force helicopter).

David is married to Debbie, a teacher, and has a daughter aged 15 and a son aged 11. His interests include local history, wildlife, walking and DIY on his family’s Tudor house, which he describes as ‘like painting the forth bridge’.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Braddy - Eastern Area Commander

Chief Superintendent Adrian Braddy is Area Commander for Suffolk Constabulary's Eastern Area.

He is in charge of policing in an area which embraces the county's coastal strip, and includes the towns of Lowestoft, Beccles, Halesworth, Woodbridge and Felixstowe.

Adrian has more than 30 years service with Suffolk Constabulary, having joined the force in 1970 as a Police Constable.

His first posting was Haverhill - and since then he has service in all three of the force's areas.

Chief Superintendent Mark Cordell - Western Area Commander

Chief Superintendent Mark Cordell is the Constabulary's Western Area Commander.

The Western Area covers the three district council areas of Forest Heath, Mid Suffolk and St Edmundsbury.

Mark joined the Suffolk Police Cadets in 1978. During his career he has worked predominantly in the Western Area and has been Sector Commander at Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.

In 2000 he became Head of the Community Safety Unit at Force Headquarters, before becoming Western Area Crime Manager in 2002.

In 2003 he took on the role of Operations Manager for the Western Area and assumed his current role in April 2004.

Mark is married with three children and lives in Bury. He enjoys watching and playing sport and has to live with the burden of being a long life supporter of Tottenham Hotspur!

Chief Superintendent Geoff Munns - Southern Area Commander

Chief Superintendent Geoff Munns is in charge of Suffolk Constabulary's Southern Area, which includes Ipswich, Sudbury and Hadleigh.

He joined the Constabulary in 1973 as a probationer constable based at Lowestoft.

Geoff then rose through the ranks, becoming a Detective Superintendent in 1997; In 1999, he became the Superintendent Operations Manager for the Southern Area, before becoming Area Commander in 2001.

Geoff is married with a daughter and stepson. His interests include wine, travel and keeping fit through swimming.

Steve Jackson - Director of Corporate Development

Steve Jackson is Suffolk Constabulary's Director of Corporate Development.

He joined the Constabulary from the Audit Commission in 1997. Prior to this he worked for the District Audit Service, Avon and Somerset Constabulary and Northamptonshire County Council.

Steve heads a department with a variety of responsibilities including corporate communications, business change and development, research and consultation, performance management and audit and inspections. All of these responsibilities contribute towards the aim of improving the organisation and performance of the Constabulary.

Steve lives in Woodbridge with his wife Nancye and his dog Jude. He is a keen sports fan and continues to support Bath Rugby, Northants cricket and the 'cobblers'.

Gerry Leader - Director of Support Services

Gerry Leader is Suffolk Constabulary's Director of Support Services.

He originally joined the Constabulary in 1969 as a Police Cadet but then left in 1975 to take up a career with the Norfolk and Suffolk Magistrates' Courts Committees.

A decade later, he re-joined Suffolk Constabulary and in 1991 became its Administration of Justice Manager; he then became Director of Administration of Justice as the role expanded.

In 2000, Gerry was appointed Director of Support Services when his department was merged with estates, transport, procurement and central administration.

Chris Marsh - Director of Finance

Chris Marsh is Suffolk Constabulary's Director of Finance.

Chris joined the Constabulary in his current role in 1995. Prior to this, he worked for the health service in a Health Care Trust and in senior positions in both district and county councils.

He has also spent some time in the private sector in manufacturing.

Mick Pepper - Director of Human Resources

Mick Pepper is Suffolk Constabulary's Director of Human Resources.

He has worked for the Constabulary for some 17 years, moving to Suffolk from London where he was a Head of Administration for one of the capital's inner boroughs.

Mick originally trained in Marketing and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

He is an Arsenal season ticket holder.
